during the long weekend of the 2nd to the 5th June 2022

There’s something for everyone, young and old, and we’d all love it if you could join in the fun on any or all of the days we have planned, starting on Thursday the 2nd June with a huge street party outside the church in The Street. With free BBQ food and an alcoholic or soft drink for every parishioner (and a bar for those that like more than one), we have live music planned from two local bands, street games and the lighting of the beacon in its new home.

Explore our rich history and marvel at the flower displays in the church on Friday before wandering down to the Village Hall for tea, coffee and cake while you risk some pennies on our Tombola.

Then on Saturday it’s the children’s tea party for those of us under the age of 16, with free food, drink and village games on the green at Wilds Way (or in the Village Hall if the weather isn’t kind to us).

And then on Sunday put your walking boots on and join us as we explore the footpaths that weave their way, criss-crossing our beautiful parish, ending up at the MADRA for a BBQ and drinks. And if you don’t fancy the walk but do fancy the BBQ and a drink, you can meet our intrepid walkers there.

Knapton’s commemorative edition of the Knapton News

Knapton News
Commemorative Edition

The Parish Council collaborated with the editor of the Knapton News to produce a commemorative edition that would be provided to every household in the parish as a keepsake, something invoke treasured memories in future years.

The celebrations on the Thursday evening also included BBQ food plus a bar which was provided and run by the Fête Committee. It was agreed that the leaflet should also serve as a Complimentary Voucher that entitled every parishioner to claim their free food and a glass of wine or beer. The Parish Council also commissioned a unique “Knapton Angel” stamp which was used to stamp the leaflet to show that the owner had received their food and drink. It also served to authenticate and “date” the leaflet, making them truly unique and collectable.

Advice and guidance was sought from the official Platinum Jubilee website as to what colours should be used. The two colours that made up the emblem of the The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee were platinum and Pantone 3515 C.
The platinum colour represents Her Majesty’s 70 years on the throne, whilst the purple colour is synonymous with royalty.

The Parish Council’s website page created at the time of the celebration used these colours, and we have also used them on this page.

there was fun for all the family during four days of celebrations

A Commemorative Gift for our children

Every young resident of our parish who was under 16 on 2nd May received a specially commissioned commemorative porcelain mug, something which the Jubilee Committee hoped will invoke happy memories of this very special day for them in the years they have ahead of them.

First Responders | the chosen charity

The net proceeds that were raised during the four days went to the organiser’s chosen charity, First Responders, who do a wonderful job every day and who kept everyone safe during the street party on the Thursday evening as well as putting on a demonstration of how to use our defibrillator on the Friday afternoon in the Village Hall.

the people that made it happen

For the first time in many years, all of the village’s clubs, groups, committees, together with St Peter & St Paul’s church, MADRA and the Parish Council came together to make the weekend of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebrations a weekend to remember for everyone in the parish

They were joined by some wonderfully talented villagers who help to sparkle magic over the whole weekend

Everyone has given their time and efforts freely to make this a Knapton event no Knaptonian should miss
